"High" elf who attacked car gives Vocativ an exclusive interview

My partner told me of a friend of her college roommate who came over, did bath salts, and then spent the next 40 or so hours being unable to move from the couch or communicate.

She did nothing but watch Jackass the entire time.

He needs help.
I would rather see this guy spend some time in jail rather than get brought in to work at a school (in a “non-classroom” role)…
Calif. man says ‘the Lord’ grabbed him and compelled him to attack a kid on a skateboard

The Lord does not grab people in California.

This wasn’t California – it was Orange County…

I lived directly next door to Hunter S. Thompson in woody creek colorado for approx 5 years. I still recall the day the police came because he was shooting at Don Johnson’s helicopter for flying over his land. He though he was fully in the right and was yelling at the cops. He truly was a larger then life character and a mainstay at the local tavern.

Behind the Orange Curtain as we called it, growing up in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Santa Monica.

Which wasn’t much Soviet. Far more European socialism mixed in with hollywood hedonism. Wonderful place to grow up, really.

Why? Is it the idea that I could wish prison on anyone ever that bothers you? I can understand that, at least; our prison system is horribly fucked-up and backwards and does not produce any sort of positive outcomes.

But if you’re saying that he’s a poor misunderstood victim of mental illness and he can’t be held responsible for his actions, I strongly disagree. This is not a guy who is, say, afflicted with irresistible mental voices that tell him that red cars must be destroyed. He does not suffer from a terrible and inescapable paranoia about red cars. He may in fact have a condition that causes him to lose his mind and endanger people when he take what, to others, would be mild psychedelics, but when sober, he is rationally aware of that condition and he does it anyway. That makes him just as much a criminal as any drunk driver.

He endangers innocent people and thinks it’s funny. He shows no apparent shred of regret. One way or another, at least temporarily, he needs to be removed from society.

He appears lucid and rational and understanding the criminal activity and intent to use his medically declared lack of sanity to avoid prosecution. He chooses to take drugs and become a menace. I believe a prior commenter noted that if the local law enforcement folks find the interview and his remarks as evidence, it’ll make his repeating these intentional out of control drug experiences more difficult.

If he is aware of the criminal wrongness of his actions when on his normal meds, as he appears to have demonstrated, and announces his intent to flaunt the law and endanger people for personal enjoyment, I think how the system works is clear? When caught they’d prosecute and a judge who is trained in these situations decides, likely with the guidance of a court appointed doctor of the mind of some sort. They’ll decide at what level security keeping facility he will be off to and how medically/mentally focused it is vs lock you up and someone introduces him to their +10 vorpal sharpened spoon.

I some how doubt general population has a gang for dudes who got sent up for rocking the Epic Fantasy cosplay too hard.
