You want to cover the reality and atrocity of this guy, but you also need to temper that without giving him a platform to spew lies. Maybe if the press covered him and Fact checked every lie…

I agree with Hillary Clinton on this, that the Press “… careens from one outrage to the next. What was outrageous three days ago is no longer on the front pages, even though it threatens the physical safety of so many people.”

It is not unreasonable for us to hold the Press to a higher standard than they currently have demonstrated. So no, it’s not like asking for a pony.

The remainder of the clip went in a different direction, which is fine, I didn’t expect a 9 minute clip with Hillary to go into a lot of depth on a single topic.
So she never addressed possible solutions to our democracy’s problems with our media. (perhaps in her book, I don’t know. I’m not going to buy it)

My own two cents: I’d would like to see some sense of prioritization on the topics the media focuses on. Well, I suppose they do prioritize. But the priority is what is the most recent, as in what is NEWS.

I want something more nuanced than simply most recent outrage (I feel like there is a computer science metaphor here, but I’ll spare you all). The media could report on what is of the greatest importance. Such as, what has Trump said or done that is the most important to address? Focus on those as “front page”. And fill the inside with fact checks on his lies and then drop the little outrages after they have been fact checked to make room for the new outrages he manufactured every day it seems.

A big part of the problem is that the media has given up on analysis.

The reason I only got news from the Daily Show, Last Week Tonight, and Some More News for a long time (aside from the comedy making it more tolerable) is that they actually bothered talking about the news, the hows, whys, and consequences of what was happening.

Modern news media stops at just presenting events for the viewers to goggle at between commercials, so of course it jumps from one subject to the next; it has nothing else to say.

Analysis sacrificed on the altar of the “unbiased.”
