What sort of person engages in a business partnership worth $3m a year without any written agreement? That’s crazy. (Unless you already have millions.)
The $3M was the purported value of the typefaces that Frere-Jones transferred to the company in exchange for a 50% ownership. Not sure what the value is per year, but FJ is asking for $20M as the value of his half of the business.
