Or the banning of religion. Totalitarian governments allow no greater allegiance than to the government. So religions have to be co-opted or eliminated.

I mean, it makes sense - Trump supporters are far more interested in what Trump has to say than that guy called Jesus did, after all. I’m just a little surprised they didn’t edit out the bits that are inconvenient to Trump - the bits about the rich not going to heaven, not committing adultery, etc., but I suppose the audience is already highly experienced in ignoring those bits, so it would be a bit superfluous.
Just this morning, I saw a picture of someone in a hat that said, “Make America Pray Again.” It immediately struck me that “Make America Great Again” is (ignoring the fascist history and context), as a phrase, constructive and even inclusive - it’s saying, “we’re going to make America into something great.” But “make America pray” is a demand - a threat even. It’s not saying “we will pray,” it’s quite literally saying “we’re going to force you to pray.”
Of course. Now they can ignore the inconvenient bits of the Bible and the Constitution at the same time, in one handy package! (And you have to have the Declaration in there, too - it mentions god! Ties together the Constitution and Bible.)

but, i do not laugh at the serious fascist overtones in this obvious money grab. it not only parts fools from their money, it frames the fascist as lord-and-savior type bullshit and conflates the book of fairy tales with our foundational government documents (as has already been pointed out by others above. i merely echo their posts with the same observation). that this adds fuel to the MAGAt/christofascists talking point that the United States is somehow a christian nation leaves me exasperated.

The $60 Bible, which was originally set to ship early this month to commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11, was “inspired by” the country musician Lee Greenwood’s 1980s patriotic anthem “God Bless the USA*”* and packages Scripture with the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the handwritten chorus to Greenwood’s song.
Wow… just wow.
That last one is quite an inclusion too; just imagine the hubris of a musician who decides his own cheesy nationalist anthem deserves to be held in the same regard as the Word of God and the founding documents of our nation.
