Homophobic Arizona sex ed law so poorly-written they accidentally banned telling kids about heterosexual marriage

Didn’t Tucker Carlson just do the same thing? He forgot about heterosexual marriage or something?

Having taught everyone from preschoolers to undergrads, yeah, 9 times out of 10, the problem is the parents (or spineless admins scared of getting calls from them).

You kid, but I worked at Fortune 50 company that had the rule: “No non-company related pornography.” Which begs the question … Is there company related porn?

It’s a medical company that has products for OB/GYN and prostate problems. For one project, I had drawings of boobs all over my cubical. Friends who would stop by to chat would do a double take. But those wouldn’t be porn … would they? But they were at least company related. And of breast cancer … which is NOT sexy.

“Nice” to see that Republicans still consider AIDS to be a gays-only problem that if they just ignore will solve the problem of gay people existing. Ugh.

Kids have spidey sense about what parents won’t talk about. And with the internet plenty of means to delve deep into the forbidden waters. I remember pages in my anatomy book being taped together. I mean please.

If they can’t talk about Gender Identity, they also cannot use any words referring to gender, right? So dust off that pronoun list I guess? And all knighthoods and ladyships and whatnot are revoked? Maybe a good thing?

A good example of self-defeating right-wing/religious idiocy. Data on this from around the world and the US shows that children who received good(…) sex education at a young age:

  1. Start with sex later
  2. Are more likely to have planned their first time…
3… and are therefore more likely to use precautions…
4… and have consented to it.
  3. Have less teen pregnancies.
  4. Have less abortions.
  5. Have less STDs
  6. Are more likely to talk to a doctor when they do get an STD
And last but certainly not least
  7. Are more likely to talk to someone when they are abused

So the real question is: WTF are they trying to prevent here???

My first job out of college had a very similar clause in its employee handbook. The company produced television set top boxes. If there was a rendering bug with the box, often it would be triggered by a specific snippet of video. There were cases where that was a sex scene, and it needed to be replayed to debug the problem. It was also made clear that any such circumstance was to be handled carefully to maintain a safe workplace for everyone.
