If I understand properly, these are not even a type of apple, it is an apple injected with grape flavoring. Totally gross.

Aren’t you thinking of “Jizz”? As in the music genre in “Star Wars” played by the blue elephant (Max Rebo) in Return of the Jedi and the bald white aliens in the bar where Luke and Ben meet Han Solo?

The high tannin content makes it more suitable for curing ox hides than eating, but the ancestral variety was prized by Native Americans as a cure for venereal disease.
