yes, this is true – i think she’s talented, creative and savvy, which is why i think she will go far.
I hope so… her and Lil Nas X need to get together to do a track… and Lizzo can produce (and play her flute and twerk). The kids are alright, I think!
To all the people saying they’ve seen this before:
(Should start at 1 minute 25)
I will admit to digging this, this morning. I feel so sassy!
Pity that the set wobbles as soon as it starts turning, and that the lighting is also thrown off-kilter too. But given the amount of time they would have had to set this up, it’s quite impressive.
What, no Jamiroquai references?
I am disappoint…
I always thought that was the coolest video…
I was considering it, but didn’t want to steal her thunder, so I sat on my hands.
I’m traveling without moving right now!
The song lyrics are even more apt today, sadly.
We all are.
Whats interesting about the Vevo clip is, they only have ~25 seconds of weightlessness at a time, so there must be cuts in this video (if only I could find them).
“penn and teller did it first” no. no they didn’t.
Wouldn’t be an article about a female artist on the internet without the first comment being about how she’s not great. Even here, I guess. Hey, guess what? No one cares, bro. Cool performance. Not yours, hers.
Yep; even here.
Boing Boing is great, in general… but even we’re not exempt from the usual divisive bullshit that’s baked into the very foundations of our entire civilization.
If this were some alt-rock dude, people would be creaming themselves about how cool it was instead of nitpicking every thing they find deficient about it… But whatever. She’s cool and the whole performance was great.
Yeah, the making-of seems unnecessary but it’s cool how much input she had.
Same. It’s a very interesting sound and I can’t quite put my finger on what makes it so.
I’m not convinced there are. I mean, there might be, but they’re very well masked if they exist.
However, if you watch closely you’ll see that the video has definite beats - seated and stationary, then a frenzied burst of activity, and then back to stationary. And those beats match the cycle of the roller coaster ride that is the vomit comet.
Conceptualising and choreographing it must have been a nightmare
It’s taking minimal techno/minimal house and turning it into a catchy pop tune. And it works.
It sounds like remix fuel to me.
