Perhaps I would have better said they are soulless…I often confuse the rank and file nazi as not capable or willing to think for themselves but I never doubt their capacity for Evil nor do I view them like the nazis portrayed in the Blues Brothers movie.

I didn’t say that. I said we aren’t there yet. Every teenager calls their parents Nazis, but shouldn’t words have… you know, definitions and meanings?
This matters for a bunch of reasons, but in light of this article, if you’re in a position to set fire to the Clerk of the Court’s office, you won’t actually be stopping the Fourth Reich, unless you consider title companies to be Nazis.

History always looks clearer in hindsight. Back then, fascism was nearly mainstream, and far more respectable than communism or socialism.
Example: In the fall of 1942, a bunch of Resistance fighters, mostly Jews, staged a temporary coup of the Vichy government in Algiers the day that the Americans and British landed their forces there as part of Operation Torch. The Resistance was able to paralyze the colonial government’s command and control apparatus for a day or so to the point that the allies landed and took control of the city with minimal fighting.
Afterwards, the Allies left the Algerian Vichy officials in place instead of deposing them, and the Resistance members who had orchestrated the coup were rounded up and sent to concentration camps in the Sahara desert. When the head of the OSS in Algiers pointed out that hanging the resistance leaders out to dry like that was hardly honorable, he was told, basically, “why are you standing up for a bunch of communists and jews?”
(ETA: hit submit too soon.) In short, “bad guys” and “good guys” was murky back then. To a lot of conservatives and moderates, the only thing wrong with the Nazis was their desire to build an empire through conquest.
You have to destroy the NAZI’s before they gain power.
