I firmly believe if you don’t think Mavis Staples is simply marvelous you haven’t heard her sing. For those lost souls in your orbit I would recommend you sit them down, put on her Live in London album, offer up some wine and let the magic wash over you. You just have to have some Love & Trust. She can still bring it. And that cover of Slippery People is fantastic.
