Massive weather front moving in, no star gazing or eclipse watching in Joshua Tree tonight…
If you say so…
I forgot to look.
Here’s how I did it on my way to work early this morning:
- I walked outside
- I looked up
It really wasn’t that tough.
The moon was too low to view from the back yard, so I set up the kids’ telescopes in the front yard. We got to see it in nearly full redness before they really needed to go to bed.
It was good being set up in the front yard for a change; the neighbour was out walking with her restless baby, so she had a view as well. She wouldn’t have seen us in our usual dark backyard patch. I could hear voices around the neighbourhood in their yards - kids with questions, grown-ups answering, people on phones “Yeah, I’m looking at it now.” In a world of on-demand entertainment, it was nice to feel everyone stop and do something together.
