I used to make these as woodturning projects. I was thinking ‘cool, a carrot lends itself quite well to a reverse tapered bore. I wonder how they’ll cut the taper’. Then I saw they just made a whistle. It would be more accurate to call this an ocarina, as it has a closed bore.

I guess some people call them flutes or whistles…?
