You may enjoy this if not already seens:
You are a sick, sick person.
I dunno. I like melancholy, and I think my favorite sad film ever is Dancer in the Dark.
An understatement at best. I tell people they really should watch it. Once. Its beautiful but absolutely soul destroying.
I did not like it. But I know many who do. I remember it being really vague and plodding.
Iāve generally liked, although not loved, most of del Toroās films, but I was un-enthused by Hellboy. Lots of nice elements, but it didnāt really fit together well for me.
From Wikipedia about Fonz in Happy Days:
āHe and his mother were abandoned by his father. When the senior Fonzarelli disappeared, he left a locked box for his son, but not a key; the young Arthur did everything to open the box before finally repeatedly running over it with his tricycle, only to reveal that it just contained the key to the box.ā
Open up, Pee-Wee!
Geez, just seeing the trailer brought it all back.
I almost went with Watership Down.
The Fox and the Hound?
Well, maybe The Fox and the Hound isnāt quite as harrowing but it still left me with a life long impression.
Melancholia? Breaking the Waves?
Bush league, in comparison. I still canāt believe it was shown in movie theaters (in Japan) in a double feature with My Neighbor Totoro.
I was trying to remember the name of this one, itās from the Memories compilation of shorts and will break your heart:
(I would recommend watching it before reading the synopsis though.)
The Fox and the Hound was? Thatās like, two pretty diametric takes on relationships there.
I donāt think Iāve ever seen The Fox and the Hound.
Itās like Grave of the Fireflies, but with anthropomorphic animals.
Is it as sad as I remember it being?
I have no idea. I have seen it, but not in 30+ years.
