Lots of times I don’t know when I am being stupid and when I am trying to protect myself. I have, like David Sedaris said in a recent article, been carrying a lance my whole life. Mine is stupid. And my mind works in stupid ways to protect myself.
He made an example of himself by deliberately creating and publishing a convincing public health hoax that caused actual financial damages.
I’d like to see white collar CEO criminals get many years of actual jail time for their crimes, but they generally don’t. That’s not fair, just or in the public interest. Even so I don’t think 30 days is disproportionate to what this guy did.
