Pity, that.
RIght, people with guns kill people. Lots of them.
Don’t count your chickens. When 22 odd million people lose their healthcare, a lot of them will be trump fans who realized they were duped. trump fans with guns.
This… this boggles my mind even more than the run-of-the-mill sociopaths who just lack empathy for anyone different than they are. If anyone understands the horror this bill could unleash it’s this man. Simply monstrous.
BRB cooking up some levothyroxine in my kitchen.
And no Uberbulance, right?
Poor dental health is a major source of lethal systemic infections, IIRC. Starts in the teeth, ends in the morgue.
OTOH, dental health has very little to do with whether or not your teeth are crooked. Cosmetic dentistry is analogous to non-trauma cosmetic surgery; medical yes, healthcare no.
So true and who says they don’t already?
Please, if I could afford one of THOSE I could afford healthcare! That’s like half an iPhone!
Those who do die because of a lack of health sure won’t vote to re-elect this guy.
Until it is banned, the republican party remains America’s Ultimate Hate Crime Against Humanity. Ban capitalism while we are at it, and initiate a wealth transfer of all assets of all billionaires. Nobody needs more than a million dollars, but let’s start at 10 and work our way down.
Ah, Lewiston, my sweetie’s hometown (he left for a reason!). Wonder how many of his friends and family voted for this idiot, and how many of them will again
My brother’s ex made a poor decision in the midst of some major mental illness to leave New Zealand and move back to the US without getting the stamp on his passport he would need to return. His health deteriorated rapidly and he died of congestive heart failure in his mid 40s because he had no health insurance. If he’d left NZ in the right way he would have been eligible to come back and get free treatment. Surely that’s some good evidence that lack of insurance can lead to death.
I hope he’s going to prove his point by cancelling all medical insurance for him and his family
Sorry, I misinterpreted the situation. In that case an ambulance would be used here, probably with a paramedic in addition to the driver (who is also a paramedic).
It seems a bit scary to me that anyone would need to point this out. Do you mean to imply that there would be circumstances where the injured person would have to pay for a rescue from a job site?
Not if it is the only one in the year, but once you hit a limit all drugs and taxis that the medics requisition are free. The limit is currently about USD200 per year. If the patient is accompanied, by a family member for instance, that person has to pay what we call an egenandel (literally own share) which for the journey from my home to the hospital is about USD20 and that is about one third of the normal taxi fare.
If you book the taxi yourself then the health system doesn’t get involved except that if you are a regular patient you can claim back mileage regardless of the type of transport you choose (can’t remember the exact rules and rates but it’s not enough to pay for a taxi although it is enough for the bus).
Not around here.
But if they’d wanted to be dicks, they could have made me file a claim with Workcover instead of just paying upfront.
Actually is was when Nixon signed a law allowing hospitals and HMOs to be for-profit. It’s been downhill since then. 1973
