Idaho inmate escapes hospital, and 3 people — including 2 cops — are shot in the process

Thinking an armed man standing next to the hospital entrance was one of the suspects, an officer shot him, only to realize he was a prison employee.

Just for my clarification purposes, which of these is the good guy with a gun that I hear will always make the right decision?

If drugs were legal, would this guy even be in jail?

This is literally one mile from my house. If they had fled on foot I might be worried they might still be in my area. They fled by car and the hospital is right next to the freeway, though, so I expect they’re long gone.

Also, local news reports that one of the injuries was a Boise cop shooting one of the armed DoC officers. Good work, guys!

Yeah. It was in Carla’s article:

To make things worse, while trying to catch the inmate, Skylar Meade, who is serving time “for aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer,” according to East Idaho News, the Boise Police Department then fired at the wrong guy. Thinking an armed man standing next to the hospital entrance was one of the suspects, an officer shot him, only to realize he was a prison employee.

Fortunately, the employee suffered only minor injuries and was conveniently already at the hospital, where he was treated.

As @evadrepus notes obliquely - when a cop and a prison officer get into a little bit of fraternal law enforcement shooting, there are NO good guys!
