Illegal surveillance: Mike Lindell's plan to strap "WMDs" to drones

That makes me want to get a cheap router, name it something like “Antifa Voting Machine Penetrator 27B/6”, and set it up in my parked car outside the polling place.

I plan on turning on my phone hotspot when voting and naming it “Dominion vote tabulator” or something similar. There were some poll watchers in 2020 where I live. We need to give them something to talk about in 2024.

This is more for freaking out computers than users; but you can get some…interesting…behavior out of the fact that SSIDs were just 0-32 octets, no actual encoding specified, originally; and ‘unspecified’ remains a valid option(along with UTF8); but most systems are really assuming that you’ll use printable characters from the well behaved neighborhoods of Unicode and may or may not cope gracefully with violations of that unspoken agreement.

A lot of AP interfaces, especially the GUIs, will try to save you from yourself; but if you sidestep them you can see what various UIs do if you violate social norms and decide to cobble together an SSID from the less well behaved neighborhoods of unicode; or nothing but nulls and newlines; or all the zero width joiners; or questionable combinations of bidirectional script marks, ligatures, and emoji. Some cope pretty well. Some settle on ignoring you. Some cope…less well.

I frequently see that SSID all over the place - it was my first thought when I read the article too!

The WMD incorporates many years of research and state-of-the-art development.

So, they installed Kismet on a raspberry pi and duct taped it to a cheap drone?

Awesome. What’s the back-story there?

Looks like he’s found something at least equally recreationally interesting.

I have secret proof we’re not just sore losers! All I need is just $49.99 from every one of you so I can publish it. Gold and silver happily accepted.

Well, no doubt he believes that it will be bankrupt by then anyway. Something that could be so easily solved if most of our nation’s wealth was not tied up by plutocrats that don’t make their real money from salaries, are ludicrously capped on what they have to pay in on the salaries they do collect, and also avoid paying taxes in general

Was surprised when my new Asus router happily let me name my SSIDs:

Haven’t had a problem connecting most devices, but will occasionally see things like this when searching:
