i think he should have been ( should be ) formally reprimanded or censured for his behavior. if there aren’t consequences, he’ll keep pushing the edge. and things will keep getting more extreme.

That’s their only idea of masculinity. Beating the hell out of another man. Anything else is pansy-ass bullshit. Back in college I lived in a culture a bit like that. Swimmers weren’t quite at that level, but there was certainly a macho component to high level college athletics. But a good number of us grew the fuck up. Those who just will not do so, dig their own grave.
