I didn’t know that about the bassline in white lines! Seems like there was a hell of a lot more cross over between the hip-hop and punk/post-punk scenes in NYC back in the late 70s/early 80s than people realize now. Someone should write a book about the cross overs like this.
“Rip It Up and Start Again” by Simon Reynolds could be what you’re looking for.
That’s a great one, but a book length treatment of the specific interactions between scenes would help to more firmly cement the connections.

I should keep up better with these. I’ve seen them in the comic shop, so I might pick it up soon as a graphic novel.
