Frankly the only argument that would really work for me is

Since its a public utility, I rather get the idea that it is the cost per megawatt.

I don;t think it’s a stand against the technology. I think it’s a stand against being forced to pass the costs of a boondoggle along to the consumers. Being forced to buy power at an outrageous cost, not any other reason.
