The problem with YouTube videos of Flash animations is that part of the reason Flash looked so good (and the file sizes could be so small) was its use of vector graphics. They could scale well to any size and still look great. When these are translated to YouTube videos, the compression creates artifacts and things just don’t look as crisp as they did in the original animations. (Plus, you lose any of the fun interactive Easter eggs that a lot of these had.)

This preservation effort is definitely commendable. As terrible as Flash was as a format, it’s very important to internet history.
