Yea, John’s on Bleeker is awesome. In the top ten pies - IMO - in NYC.
The problem with “________ is teh best” is that in NYC, any horrible, swill serving rat hole will stay in business for a long time. Other cities restaurants need to be good to keep customers in and happy, in NYC you can actively hate your customers and street traffic will still keep you going for a lot longer than you should have. The food here is simply the worst.
