Yes, however PEG (polyethylene glycol) can seal green art and in some plants is a fantastic non toxic preservative.
Alternatively classic flower pressing works, if UV light PH and moisture are not present preserved plant matter can have a shocking long shelf life.
I cut some designs out of chicken and turkey feathers a while back, turned out very cool but was stinky and fiddly work, and very delicate art in the end. I have seen others online do the same with snake skins and nori seaweed paper (watch out many laser CNC machines are VERY VERY toxic in the work area from plastic, glues, and volatile organic compounds, so, not food grade machines.)
