It’s not so much the dunking as the smashing with a hammer afterwards.

It’s possible, but there’s a release valve that vents through the ceiling in the event of a quench. Also, it’s really unlikely that an in service MRI would quench. Most quenches happen when the machine is being serviced, even the unintentional ones.
