Beyond the BS of Gatorade, there is ORT, which can save many lives for pennies of common ingredients of sugar and salt, especially for children in the “third world”. There are many diseases and conditions that involve dehydration: cholera, yellow fever, etc. (Ask someone who knows what they’re talking about, unlike me, please.)
Sure, and as far as that goes I’m sure there are much worse things to drink than Gatorade if you’re treating someone who is actually suffering from dehydration.
I just think it’s ridiculous when anyone suggests Gatorade is some kind of nutritional beverage that people should regularly imbibe as part of a healthy balanced diet.
