However, we can criticize the US, Israel, Russia, and anyone other state that uses torture… Personally, I’ve been coming to the belief that modern mass society has some serious defects whatever it’s flavor, and almost all nations have problems with this kind of thing.

If they don’t currently, it just takes a smidge of a stimulus for them to develop it.
Torture is never acceptable. It’s always useless other than to dehumanise the victims.
