Jeff Sessions officially sends memo asking prosecutors to give drug dealers death penalty

These guys really really don’t like competition in their core markets do they?

Just a point of clarification: the headline says he’s asking prosecutors to give the death penalty. They can’t give any penalty. That’s the judges job. Sessions is telling prosecutors to pursue the death penalty.

I am never in favour the death penalty and am glad Canada doesn’t have it. That said, the opioid crisis, including tainting everything with fentanyl is just outrageous. Anyone manufacturing or distributing fentanyl should be charged with attempted murder whenever possible. Reckless endangerment at the very least. Murder when someone ODs.

So yet again Trump and his minions are talking credit for someone else’s work. (Terrible as it is in this case.)

Impeachment now. Conviction tomorrow. Call your rep. Let’s get this thing moving.

My thinking, too. Prosecutors often pile-on overblown charges against a suspect, with the intent of influencing the defendant to cop to one of the lower-penalty charges in order to escape the possibility of being found guilty (because juries are unpredictable) of one of the larger-yet-outrageous charges. The idea is to make it look impossible for the defendant to escape being found guilty on some charge or another, so they cop to a lesser charge.

Sessions and his minions could bust a legal grow farm and add the death penalty to the possible outcome, just to scare the defendant(s) to cop to a lesser charge. Sessions would still get a favorable court ruling declaring Federal primacy over state law.

“If you feel like murdering somebody and any legal case can be made to support it, I say go for it, it feels great!” says the fucking attorney general.

My concern is that it never seems to be the “kingpin” charged. It’s the dead guy’s friend and fellow addict who happened to have the $20 to score that day and then shared.

I’m 5’ 9", do I qualify for public service?

Conspicuously missing: the memo to prosecutors about giving the death penalty to national traitors.

As always, this is aimed at the street vendors…how about the people that fund theses ventures at the top? Why are none of them EVER caught and tried?

Oh, wait, rich people…I forgot.

My fault. Please assume that all my questions (about Trump and other $$$-hungry flimflammers out there) are rhetorical.

Yep. Short people are funny.

That extent’s none at all, I gather. Pretty sure the Supreme Court has ruled that the death penalty is an unconstitutional punishment for anything but directly taking a life, including child rape.

That is not a decision that would survive a rehearing by the current court.

Is that even allowed?

Yup.

Lower court issues death penalty, defence appeals work up to USSC, USSC can choose not to hear it, but they can also choose to revisit the issue.

Okay, let’s say it’s determined that Russia influenced the election, and furthermore, that stonewalling Obama’s Supreme Court nominee was unconstitutional. Any leeway for removing an improperly appointed SCJ?

I’m assuming that the “No, I don’t mean the Saklers; they are the right sort of people” clause is implied?

It’s a way to shut down the cannabis industry in States where it’s been legalized.
Also to kill more Black people, which makes Sessions sexually aroused.
