See, “Them” is fair insofar as you are talking about Breitbart commenters.
IRL grumpy conservatives on average are not this shitty of human beings. At least in my experience (ymmv).
However, I find it extremely informative on the underlying thinking of right wing talking points. The sorts of opinions that are likely to become more mainstream, and of course the sorts of things that lose Trump support among his base.

Oh, I cannot agree more! The entire penal system in the United States is broken. I could write an essay on the subject but the only thing that really needs to be pointed out to anyone to prove how broken it is, is that we have for-profit prisons in the U.S. Corporations make money on incarcerating human beings.

I didn’t say “Breitbart commenters”, I said “Breitbart comments”. Besides the external trollies, I suspect that they self-trolley on occasion to run up the comments or bury contrary comments. I’d love to analyze the comments for that, but…

For Trump this was an applause line. For a lot of the people chanting it, they genuinely believe that Clinton committed crimes and should be in prison. Some small potion of Americans voted for Trump in the hopes that finally Bill and Hillary Clinton would go to prison and are not going to vote for Trump again because the failure to put them in prison is too big a broken promise.
I wondered about that. There are ways these days to set such a thing up electronically so that you don’t have to even have to have a trustworthy associate to handle the release for you. I don’t think this will happen, but, like you, I’d probably get up and do an actual jig if a few days from now the prosecutor’s office gets an email with instructions on where to find a trove of blackmail material.

Hard to say. I look into the abyss with some regularity. Some observations:
- After a right wing nutter goes on a shooting spree, they start nerfing violent comments and posters more.
- Overtly racist and violent rhetoric sticks around for a few days before being deleted.
- Anti-Trump sentiment from conservatives is deleted immediately, always.

Rather than celebrate his death, let’s go after the people implicated by his considerable documentation. He undoubtedly kept those records for blackmail purposes, and each and every one of those motherfuckers should be investigated. Trump, Clinton, all of them. I don’t care if Ghandi was on the list (even though he’s dead) investigate every one of them
Epstein had a pretty singular goddamned focus. There are far more disgusting fucking pedophiles out there than anyone other than them are comfortable considering. I don’t care who you are, if you’re molesting children, they deserve justice, and you deserve to be in prison.
The best message we can send to these fuckers is that killing him, or allowing him to kill himself, or whatever the fuck happened meant nothing other than he personally escaped spending the rest of his life in prison. It changes nothing. He wasn’t just doing this for himself, he was “providing services” to clients and every damned one of them should be under even greater scrutiny now.

I really did not see a lot of comments doing that. Plenty of people angry for a number of reasons, including that the victims will never get to plead their case in an open court, and concerned about what that will do to the investigation. I haven’t really seen any comments that are really pleased he offed himself (if that’s what happened) and think that’s justice served. Because it’s not. I’m fairly certain we all pretty much agree that the investigation should go on, no matter where it leads, even though it might be harder to do now that he’s dead.

I’m unconvinced that there’s an afterlife or hell, so I really just see this as a coward escaping justice and protecting/possibly being murdered by his powerful clientele. If not murdered, I cannot imagine the suicide was entirely because Epstein was afraid of being found guilty. There are lot of names named here, and there’s a good possibility that he was more worried about what would happen to him after the trial at the hands of their associates than he was worried about the trial itself. I mean, the goddamned president is on the list, we have photographic evidence of them spending time together, and Trump has expressed his love of young girls on innumerable occasions. Add to that the fact that he’s an autocrat with an obsession with all things mafioso, and even if Trump walked, there’s a very good chance he’d have gone after Epstein in some capacity simply for the breach of loyalty.

Regarding my comment about people celebrating his death, I didn’t mean here. There are plenty of people elsewhere on the internet as a whole and in my peripheral social circle (as in people I work around) who seem to think that’s the appropriate response and that it’s some kind of closure to the matter.
Then again, I suppose that for people who believe in an afterlife, this could be seen as a shortcut to spending eternity in hell.
