Leverage goes both ways. If the current occupant of the White House took a serious shot at the Clintons because of what real dirt he may have on them, the simple exposure of said dirt would trigger their own Doomsday Bomb of real dirt they have on him.
The very wealthy and powerful have a whole different set of attitudes, ‘moral codes’, rules and internal class laws from the mere ‘citizens’. I’ve seen this up close.
