I don’t recall ever studying this in great detail so it was eye opening for me. Let us know how this compares to other videos you have seen.
Well our epidemiological science is more advanced. But so is our global travel and our ability to seal public spaces where everyone breathes recycled air (Malls, theaters, airplanes, etc). I hope we are better off now.
Yeah, it’s important to note the numbers we’re throwing around here are specifically American deaths in these conflicts. This is one of the reasons why The American Civil war so easily outnumbers the other conflicts the United States was involved in, both sides of the conflict were the United States.
It shared a lot of the same info, but yours had more of some of the grisly details. Mine I recall addressed how the army doctors figured out and struggled to contain the flu.
FWIW, here is the series I saw. It’s 6 parts plus “lies”,
Not sure why lies isn’t on the play list. Lies just goes over mistakes and added info.
“High quality information?” I went skipping through this video trying to find a bit where he gives some facts about the virus and I saw him tell me how fuckable Adam Driver is, how China is authoritarian and how Trump is an asshole, all laced with presumptive analogies that are really non-sequiturs. God, this show is such a waste of time and completely unfunny.
You want high-quality information? It’s too late to stop the spread. Civilization will not collapse. 80% of the people who get it will have no or mild symptoms. The flu kills about 0.01% of people it infects. This might kill 2% but the U.S. experience will hopefully be better. Wash your hands. There, I saved you the trouble of watching.
In the bit where he asks, ‘so what should you do?’, he essentially tells a young-ish audience that they will most likely survive. Fine, but what might be more poignant is that we need to prepare for the death of up to 10% of our 70+ year old relatives.
Am I mentally prepared for that? Do I feel that I have tied up all the loose ends with them and said all that needs to be said? Not really…
I found both interesting. The series you posted went into more details about the humans involved (dr’s fighting the disease, politicians that censored its existence, etc… ) by name. The video I posted stayed more focused on the virus.
