F@cking Monday, how I hate thee.
My wife and I got to know Jordan a few years ago at Electri_City in Düsseldorf, then revisited her at the fantastic Louder than Words music literature festival in Manchester. We got to know her as a breeder of Burmese cats and a woman with a receptive ear and incisive wit and only then as a former punk rock icon.
I haven’t known anyone with a zest for life like hers. She was inspirational, not just for women but for anyone feeling stigmatized or marginalized. I highly recommend everyone read her autobiography Defying Gravity: Jordan’s Story.
Fuck cancer.
I only knew of her vaguely. One of those figures that seemed to be “there” in so much early punk scene stuff. What an amazing woman.
