Josh Duggar's wife installed anti-porn software on his computer, but Duggar installed anti-anti-porn software

There’s so much “ewwwwwww” here, it should be terminal.

It’s not just for porn addiction.

That is the face of a man who thinks he’s clever because he just installed a porn blocker blocker, yet who knows he’s not clever enough to avoid getting caught

I would be delighted by the 4D chess that sex negative people put themselves through . But they think that CP and normal adult porn are equally bad and don’t understand or care about consent. So this story is just more sad / gross.

Women did not create patriarchal cultures, but we do have to try and survive within them…

And now the patriarchy won’t let this one box… :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

I saw that thread when it was originally posted, but the twitter account has been suspended so it’s gone.

At least for now there’s a copy here:

Oh, and here’s the original posting from Facebook: Why has Anna Duggar stayed with Josh... - Thriving Forward | Facebook

PORN BAD isn’t exactly a nuanced statement. They think, welp, I’m looking at bikini pics on Instagram, I’m already fucked, bring on the kiddie porn.

On second thought, that’s a very Catholic viewpoint. Depending on the strain of Christianity, they might think that whatever they do they will be forgiven for because they’re “saved”. So, PORN BAD but when you’re saved everything you do is good and when you aren’t everything you do is evil, so why bother having morals? Who cares, it’s all about virtue signaling!

This. They are taught that the man is the head of the household and whatever he says goes. And before marriage they don’t even date, but they go through this weird courtship thing that reeks of arranged marriage. I don’t exactly think consent enters into their lives much at all.

“Consent doesn’t exist” + “PORN BAD” = this fucker

I’d wager a bet that these Xtianist grifters are in on the creation of the child porn itself.

That would explain why it’s not one-boxing! Thanks!

Also, WTF did the person get suspended? I hope not for that thread. But probably because of that thread. Because of course accurately describing a brutal, patriarchal culture is as bad as being a brutal, patriarchal culture. /s

Sick. Josh Duggar is just one of many that need locked up.

I would assume something like that. Linux bootstick, then either save everything to the bootstick encrypted, or have an encrypted file on your computer that you can mount as a drive.

This could be prevented, though it would take more IT know how: password protect the BIOS on the computer and set it so that you can’t boot from an alternate device (and possibly padlock the case closed so the BIOS can’t be reset), don’t give them admin access on the windows machine so they can’t install other software.

It might be possible to try and block all tor traffic, but that’s a real tough problem, since tor is engineered to circumvent this kind of thing. Easier to just prevent the installation or use of anything that could use tor.

However in the end it really comes down to an arms race: you can only prevent internet access from people that have less IT knowhow than yourself. If someone is more savvy then you they’re pretty much guaranteed to find a way around it.

Thanks for going to the extra effort to post that thread, “Why has Anna Duggar stayed?” It’s a horrifying analysis of the Advanced Training Institute (which I had never heard of, which the Duggar family apparently belong to). Excerpt:
“ATI followers are taught birth control is a sin.
They are taught that “God opens and closes the womb”, and that preventing a pregnancy in ANY way, shape, or form, is not trusting God.
This means, couples are not even allowed to consider natural family planning, for choosing to abstain from sex when the female is most fertile would mean you are not trusting God. Why has Anna continued to have children with Josh?
Because she has been taught to believe she LITERALLY does not have a choice…Speaking of sex, ATI women are taught that it is a sin to refuse your husband sex.”

Oh yikes, reading between the lines, it sounds like his wife put it on there because she had run across his child abuse images previously and knew what he was doing. Based on what I’ve read from women who escaped that culture (with great, great difficulty), she probably told a (male) religious authority about it, and this was the recommended solution (or no solution was proposed, and this was the only option available to her).

Remember - previously it was revealed this guy had molested his younger sisters and other children, and was caught cheating on his wife. She’s stuck in a sick, sick, patriarchal, authoritarian culture that’s brainwashed her into thinking she had no choices, and that she really can’t escape from without losing her family, friends and all her support structures, while she has six (soon to be seven) children, even assuming she could overcome a lifetime of brainwashing. If her husband “misbehaves,” she’s likely the one who gets made to feel responsible. She’s probably drowning in guilt while trying to hold her shit together. I can’t get into her shoes either, thankfully, because they’ve got to be an incredibly fucking awful place to be.

They’re not that specific - they block broadly (is there one problematic product on Amazon? Block all of Amazon, etc.), and via keywords that are more about ideology (block anything about atheism or other religions, uncomfortable history, etc.) than being about porn. It’s more of a white-listed blocking approach, it sounds like (e.g. need to update software? The blocker doesn’t recognize that address, so… nope.). So they can be incredibly lazy in how they set it up and maintain it.

It’s so much worse than that. Women/girls are “responsible” for men’s feelings (which are bad, of course). If a girl gets molested, she’s at fault. Not only that, but she’s expected to thank her molester for abusing her, as this “adversity” brings her closer to god. Also, if she’s traumatized by any of this, that’s also her fault, because if she had faith, she wouldn’t be traumatized. It’s all unspeakably sick.

Sadly, it’s almost certainly because she got mass-reported by people who are part of this sick culture in order to silence her revelations. That seems to be happening a lot on Twitter.

For the record, he’s not back in the home with his wife and kids, though he will be allowed to interact with them. He’s staying in the home of a family friend as a condition of his release
