Does anti-antiporn software mean ‘linux bootstick’?
It does allow for some kind of stick, yes.
Ugh. I think I’d rather investigate homicides than have a job where I had to let that kind of thing in my brain.
“The BEST people.”
Nothing that sophisticated. I’m sure it’s just some off-the-shelf software that could quickly defeat the “ironclad, 100% secure, Christian” (i.e. lazily executed, easily circumvented, over-priced for the Xtianist rubes) porn blocker. Duggar probably found it on one of his forums for holy-roller paedophiles.
Would regular “anti-porn” software even work against “top five worst of the worst” kinds of porn? It seems like it would have to be dark web kinds of stuff that you couldn’t even get at with a regular browser, no? Does it just work on a white list on the actual network traffic?
Covenant Eyes is a very poorly implemented VPN software that redirects your Internet connection to a filtered DNS service. Pretty rudimentary and easy to circumvent with even a little bit of technical knowledge.
So would literally just typing in the IPv4 address circumvent it?
Knowing how these Xtianist grifters operate, I’m sure their filter lists haven’t been updated for years.
What a lovely and perfectly normal bunch of people. An amazing exemplar of the kind of clean, freedom-loving Christ-centric lifestyle that evangelical Christians are always telling me about.
Is there a category on BoingBoing for “unhappy mutants”, by any chance?
knowing how they operate, they probably write both the porn blocking software and the anti porn blocking software
And secure too! I know I’d trust whatever man-in-the-middle cert that this shit installs in my browser to not have been compromised years ago.
Considering that the only reason you install such a thing is to mark yourself as a star-bellied sneetch …
Apparently it is horrible to use (No big shock):
I am curious how people get around it. Probably the easiest most secure is to have a encrypted linux boot stick.
I am trying to empathize with his wife, and I just can’t get into her shoes. It breaks down around the time she has to say, “Now honey, go play with the children while I install anti-child-pornography software on your computer.” That is such a profoundly unnatural state of affairs that I just can’t get past it.
And the thing is, this software is supposed to send her reports on his activities, so presumably she could see him searching for ways to circumvent it.
Having seen bits of the Duggar’s show in the past the first thing to hit my brain was “These people are not healthy” and the level of not shocked I have is shocking.
Definitely read this post in Krieger’s voice.
If you use a linux bootstick you use it to store the downloaded files too…
