This story echos the US right wing rollback of the arts back in the Reagan/Bush Sr era. Only this time it’s suggestive banana paintings instead of Mapplethorpe’s works. Basically the “obscene” charges are mostly a cover to allow them to cut funding to the arts without being seen as the bad guys.

My GF took part in a textile exhibition at the Central Textile Museum Łódź, titled “Za Wolność” / “For the freedom” with this ❀ piece, and girl oh girl, have I never seen a nun leave an exhibition opening faster!
