They could let him submit his toilet-time tweets, but then just not post them, though I suppose he would notice eventually. They say he doesn’t read. Does that include his own tweets, I wonder?
March 1941 was several months before the U.S. got involved in World War II
back when Father Coughlin and the German American Bund were still running around
I don’t think I’ve ever watched CNN, but this anchor looks hilarious; he’s really nailing the “Blue Steel” look.
You went over the limit. Need to split your responses up.
Perfect example! My wordiness was laziness. Could have said it better in 140. Using “Actually” is a clue I needed to be more concise.
Wait? You don’t know Anderson Cooper?
I thought everyone knew him, even if they don’t watch CNN…
I used to be a staunch supporter of national referendums, but then Brexit happened and I had to re-evaluate that.
I also used to be expansive in my prescription of free speech but it was challenged by things like: Pizzagate, the Myanmar genocide, and Sandy Hook deniers. The question now is who has the right to use the mégaphone.
Trying times my friend.
If you ever live for an extended time in California, which has the population and economy of a nation-state, you learn quickly how badly a referendum system can screw things up.
That said, at this point the only way to undo the damage of the Brexit referendum is to hold a second (and one hopes more clearly formulated) one.
I am with the ACLU here: we +must+ allow free speech in this country, even when we find it repugnant.
However, when that speech results in harm to persons or property, then the speaker should be prosecuted for inciting that harm, and prosecuted according to the law.
(just my 2 cents)
Card-carrying member of the ACLU here. The organisation defends the First Amendment (which prevents government censorship in the public realm) and also defends the right of privately-owned platforms (like Twitter) to choose which speech they will allow and which they won’t.
Sorry, nope; I’ve never heard of him. Do we like him?
I do, actually, though I’m generally annoyed by most of the national news anchors on the cable news networks (even the ones I tend to agree with). He does good interviews for the most part. He’s kind of a trust fund kid (his mom was Gloria Vanderbilt), but he does good work, I think.
I like his eye-roll action.
He’s good by the standards of American broadcast TV and by all accounts is a decent human being with a sense of humour. Also, as a gay man he’s a strong public voice on LGBTQ issues.
I like decent human beings. They are my favourite sort.
Unfortunately, I can’t find that whole sketch online… it’s pretty funny.
Tremble before the might of my superior Google-Fu!!! (I typed in “Anderson Cooper Pee Wee Herman” :D)
Now, Pee Wee Herman, I’ve heard of!
Awesome! I was looking for it on the youtube, as SNL has some stuff up… Thanks!
Thank you for the update!
Sincerely,

No problem. People often get confused about the ACLU’s remit, which doesn’t include insisting that private corporations must afford citizens the same near-unlimited free speech rights as the state must. Harris, an experienced government attorney, also understands that she can only suggest Twitter shut Il Douche down in her role as a candidate for office.
