if no republican will take the first step because they’re all so locked into their herd mentality, if none of them will be brave and make up their own minds based on the reality of the situation, then nothing will change and people will keep dying needlessly

I’m starting to think the only thing that might cause GOP to actually do something about the issue would be some heavily armed maniac with a grudge going and slaughtering the legislature of some red state. And even then, I’m far from certain.
