I do not feel anything when I see someone put ketchup on a hot dog. What they eat is their business. Food gatekeeping is tiresome and silly. So I like the idea of a company bypassing some restaurant’s dumb rules about condiments. I just hope this doesn’t lead to ketchup packets littered everywhere.
It is really Quebec’s dish and no other Canadian would think otherwise. But it has been increasingly available in Vancouver since maybe the mid 90’s. Perhaps another example of generic “Canada” attribution for something from a very specific region.
I’ve never had poutine. I’m waiting to return to Quebec to try it.
