I think the asshole part of his personality is a larger part of the problem.
Do not disparage the name of radicalism, which fought for universal suffrage, emancipation and civil rights when people thought that was too extreme. Sorbo is a reactionary, or maybe a fascist.
From left to right:
Revolutionary - Radical - Reformist - Status Quo - Conservative - Reactionary - Fascist
I really hate how political terms have been twisted into things that they are not. How can you describe what you are if people no longer know what you mean?
To meet the ideological requirements of Ingsoc (English Socialism) in Oceania, the Party created Newspeak, which is a controlled language of simplified grammar and restricted vocabulary designed to limit the individual person’s ability to think critically or to articulate subversive concepts, such as personal identity, self-expression, and free will.
No, Peanut, it’s because you’re an asshole.
Did some mistake jesus loving them for being even remotely likeable again? Seems to happen fairly regularly.
My usage was that he’s radical in the commonly-used sense that he’s extreme, or “a person who favors rapid and sweeping changes especially in laws and methods of government.” Or, just “way out there.”
But, yes, politically he’s a reactionary.
I doubt that with his being religious is his problem: it’s proselytizing… and being a vocal MAGA asshat.
They hate Mr. Hanks.
That’s what I was complaining about, and how radical now means the opposite of what it used to mean.
Sorry, I’m just pissed off with the world today. It’s not fair to you, and maybe I need some offline time.
Heh, no worries. I’m having a hell of a day as well, and your advice is good and I’m going to take it.
To be fair, I’m not sure if I think they are of the same faith either. Based on the thread last week about Evangelicals dismissing Christ for being too ‘woke’ and using liberal talking points, I’m hesitant to think of them as Christian anymore.
I don’t want to be too pharisaic though: as someone in a faith that also claims to be Christian but has spent most of my life being dismissed by other Christians for not being a ‘real’ Christian (LDS/Mormon), it would be pretty hypocritical of me to do the same thing to them.
Instead I’ll do my best to forgive them, like John Scalzi’s Jesus would do.
I suspect his lack of work outside of overtly evangelical Christian propaganda films is mostly due to not being such a good actor. I would like to think it’s mostly due to his being a jackass about his faith and politics, but … James Woods is an executive producer on Oppenheimer and also a gigantic MAGA dickweed, so … I don’t think those things are necessarily impediments to Hollywood success. He doesn’t wave his religious beliefs in peoples’ faces as much, though, so I suppose it could be a combination of the lack of acting talent, the politics, and the shoving of religion into everything.
One of my favorite gifs on the net
Who?
“Jerkules” (snort) gotta steal that one
He wasn’t ever a good actor. Like never ever.
the same faith
… but what kind of “Christian” exactly
My parents were very religious (Lutheran). Since birth it was Sunday school and church every week. … I go to a church called Christian Assembly, non-denominational.
OH, I remember Kevin “the Littlest Hercules” Sorbo! Funny, I only know his name because of his (lame) portrayal of a mythical pagan demigod! And I think he was in B1tch Slap for about 2 minutes. I thought people were mad at him because he’s a vegan. Or not a vegan, I’m not sure. But yeah, great actor.
