Oh, is he a Christian? I hadn’t noticed.
Kinda.
Wait, Hanks is a Christian? That’s it, me and him are done, and the boycott is ON!
Sheesh! You liberals are so extreme with your cancel culture. You could just not go to his films as Kevin Sorbo pointed out! /s
Absolutely, but that’s still no excuse. Lots of ham & cheese actors get steady work. He himself had two five-year series, because someone wanted a ham & cheese actor for the parts.
If no one wants him, then he’s probably a monster pain to work with, has ridiculous expectations, etc. He’s also a risk as a social media controversy magnet, but that’s a more recent thing.
There’s been scuttlebutt about Sorbo for years now. A co-worker alledged he’s a sexual harrasser, his publicist sued him for non-payment, and rumors say he drove off the showrunners of Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda because his role wasn’t big or important enough for him.
So yeah, by all accounts, Sorbo’s an “actor” whose ego was/is far bigger than his talent (and his mouth’s bigger than his ego.) It’s no wonder so many people don’t want to work with that problem child.
And Iolaus was always more interesting to me than Jerkules anyway. The character was more complex, and the actor (Michael Hurst) had mad acting and directing talent.
As far as Sorbo goes, all I can speak from is the experience of some friends who worked at a con, years back, where he appeared as a guest.
By all accounts, he was an egotistical nightmare, especially compared to actual big names who were appearing along with him.
Re: Michael Hurst
Likewise Keith Hamilton Cobb, playing Tyr Anasazi in Andromeda was a better actor with a cooler character, so Sorbo had the show changed to be more about him, er, Hunt. What a dick!
At the time, it seemed like the show was stuttering through a reboot every season, each time for the worse.
