Kickstarting a new Girl Genius collection

Wow 19 posts of people judging a book by its cover before someone who’s actually read it steps in to talk some sense. To give all of you naysayers an idea of the quality of Girl Genius when the Hugo awards introduced a category for “Best Graphic Story” Girl Genius won it three years running (against some stiff competition too) from 2009-2011 and probably would have kept winning had they not removed themselves from contention in 2012.

Agatha is a great character and the comic is incredibly entertaining. So again, why not go read it for a few pages instead of just judging by the cover. Just go to their website and read a few pages, when you return after several days without sleep having binge read the entire archive because you couldn’t stop reading you’ll all be singing a different tune.

I was looking for a Lana/big hands youtube video, but there wasn’t anything. Which is odd considering how many random people she has shot for remarks about her man hands.

One of my undergraduate physics professors once told me a story about this high school science fair he helped judge. Apparently one of the kids build a laser from scratch — no small task — but the other judges were unhappy because the project looked “messy”.

I always think this is an xkcd cartoon, but it is not.

First thing I noticed! Why are her breasts bigger than her head. So weird. Seems out of the norm for Girl Genius.

Thank you. I appreciate the background. I have no problem with sexy at all. Elfquest is full of sexy elves. That’s cool. I just have to say the proportions on this picture where a bit striking. Seems I was not the only one to notice the big hands and boobs and eyes. I don’t have an issue with a busty female lead - it just seemed odd the proportions in general. Thanks again for the perspective.

In the Girl Genius universe, they’re more like science wizards than real scientists. At one point they admit that people with the spark (the mad scientist types) actually bend the laws of the universe when they get going on something.

Most of Agatha’s (the girl pictured on the cover) creations happen offscreen, while she’s asleep. This isn’t the journal Science, it’s about a world where giant mechanical monsters from various mad scientists throughout history roam the countryside causing random havoc.

It’s a fun read, but about as close to real science as Harry Potter, and it doesn’t claim anything different.

Agatha has big boobs because the Foglios like big boobs.

I wasn’t even commenting on the “sexiness” of this overflowing girl genius – just that her breasts are drawn so oddly – from the curvature on the outside top of each, they look like, say, 3/4 of a sphere (each), suggesting that the bits that connect her breasts to her body are somehow narrower than the breast itself, which would make for a rather disturbing ball-on-a-stalk shape if ever released from that poor straining corset.

Did you blow it all on coke’ (On this point, you can rest assured. No one who does coke stays as fat as we are.)

I think Fox/FX does a lot to curtail Youtube videos of Archer. Considering how many one liners and running jokes there are I’d expect there to be loads of Archer clips, sadly there are not.

Phil Foglio is also the author/artist of the XXXenophile books. Sci-fi & Fantasy porn. He definitely knows how to draw women with small boobs & dudes with big dinguses.

Pretty good storylines with naked people, robots, aliens, wizards, animals, etc…

Probably have to login to see but:

“I’m not a sex toy, I’m just drawn that way” (to paraphrase another cartoon hottie

I know several women whose breasts are bigger than their heads.
