It’s easy to tell if it was Seeburg background music, because the scratches repeat every 3.5 seconds due to the 16-2/3 RPM speed of the records. For what it’s worth, those records didn’t have any copyright notice whatsoever.
I’ll always get in a cozy Christmas mood listening to this type of department store musical wallpaper, as we didn’t do a lot of store shopping when I was a kid, except around December. It also triggers my olfactory memories of the candy/popcorn kiosk at Sears. Nothing else smelled like that.
