A counterargument is that this group is putting crosswalks where a bunch of traffic engineers had determined that they’d be dangerous.

Yes, there’s nothing magical about crosswalk paint. In some cases it can make the situation more dangerous because it gives the people crossing the road a false sense of security.

And incomplete crosswalks at that, if they aren’t adding any of these signs:
(Yeah, depending on where they’re putting them such signs aren’t always necessary. But then again neither are painted crosswalks.)
