At first, the show was awesome. The episode in which they finally escaped, but only when an exact duplicate of themselves entered was genius. They could just keep reshowing it forever… then they ruined it by having their uncle come in - and the show was worse after that.
“Circle.” Larry Niven again, with David Gerrold. That was the first season finale, and a satisfying solution to a quandary that has plagued many TV shows that aren’t certain whether or not they’ll get another season. Not too many other shows had the kind of warped reality that could simultaneously wrap up the story and leave it open for more as well as that one did.
All good children’s programming needs to walk the line between cuddly fantasy and pure screaming nightmare.
