By that point in his career, he was not much more than a lounge act in Vegas. I think this edit bears that out pretty succinctly.

Ah makes me sad to watch. Not that i’m an Elvis fan. It’s just watching a caricature of him and it just hurts. ugh.
I’m too lazy to search out the original video but would love to see it.

Funny, but I can’t help but wonder if he was “inspired” by this guy’s work who has been making Musicless Music Videos for years. (ETA: It’s totally possible he came up with the idea independently too. I just wanted to bring attention to the guy who does it regularly.)

Not bad but that’s not Elvis singing…nice try though…you want to see something really funny try it with somebody with no talent at all like any rapper or Beyoncé…that would be hysterical!

Mean-spirited? I didn’t think so, and the guy himself made it clear there was no mean intention.
He even got to “shred” live with Slash on some show (Slash’s entry was probably the funniest of the “shreds”)

The “shreds” guy was doing these years before the Musicless dude. Unfortunately he got DMCA’ed in the early YouTube days and couldn’t host his videos for a while. They’ve popped back up on YouTube here and there.
