Laura Ingraham says 'it sickens me' when Biden addresses systemic racism

It sickens her…just the same as hanging a garland of garlic around her neck?

“After all, why do millions of people want to come here from all across the globe if Americans are just a bunch of racists.”

Notice the switch. He said systemic racism. She said Americans are racist. She knows what systemic racism means, but she’s telling her audience that they’re being called racists (though that part is actually true for some of them). You don’t have to personally be racist and spew the n-word all day to benefit from and even passively support systemic racism.

Is anybody viewing the clip? She’s doing a pretty bang up job proving how the USA is systemically racist.

When the bad guys pretty much do the work for you…:man_shrugging:

Since she has so much trouble understanding systemic discrimination, maybe she should inquire as to why she makes 30% less than her male co-hosts and pays 30% more for her healthcare.

Yeah, well, looking at Laura Ingraham’s face sickens me.

There is systemic racism in the US. I try not to be, but YMMV; an individual may not be, but get a bunch together in a herd…

not sure if anyone’s pointed out yet but
SYSTEMICALLY is not equivalent to SYSTEMATICALLY (as per wretched thumbnail)

Hmm, do you think the more we talk about it, the more it sickens her? Is exposing systemic racism Ingraham’s kryptonite? Perhaps if we redouble our efforts we can weaken her enough to finally defeat her.

Never an actual, persuasive argument from these right wingers. Always bad faith appeals to feelings. Every fucking time.

Examples of Systematic Racism:

  • Having one absentee voting box per county, when county A has 1.5MM people living in it, and County B has 50,000 people living in it.

  • Allowing poll watchers to request citizenship papers from people who they suspect of being non-citizens.

  • Having programs to help rural people buy homes, and public housing assistance for rent in Urban areas.

  • Allowing immigration officials to question anyone within 100 miles of a boarder if there is cause to believe that they are not citizens; and looking non-white is a cause. (Of course, even within 100 miles of Canada, since there are so many Hispanic people in Canada illegally crossing into the USA…)

Of course, the Republicans wouldn’t support any of these ideas…

“Accusing America” of systemic racism is such a bizarre turn of phrase, so obviously made to try to personalize it, so that racist uncles everywhere can feel like it is the same as their uppity niece and nephew accusing them of racism at thanksgiving. These fucking trolls should be grateful that systemic racism is the one we are focused on at a national level. By it’s nature is really something you can “accuse” a country of, as it’s baked into systems, it’s structural, it grinds on, but actually avoids (at least moreso than other racist phenomena) personal accusation or blame. But hey, we could go on for days about Laura Ingraham’s very personal, targeted racism if she wants.

It’s amazing to me that anybody with two brain cells to rub together would disagree with the statement that “America is systemically racist.” This is one of those things that statistics and logic basically back you into a corner on. If America ISN’T systemically racist, then that means that the differences in net worth, opportunity, representation/etc along racial lines are NOT imposed upon them by systems, and are instead inherent.

I.e. “I don’t believe america is systemically racist” means “I am absolutely unaware of any inequity in the USA based on racial lines” (charitably), and/or “I am profoundly racist.” (more likely).

drunk saturday night live GIF

I think that’s a gif from the first year Che was on, and Drunk Uncle came out on Che’s side of the desk at the beginning of the sketch… and then move around to Jost’s side.

It keeps coming back to this again and again and again:

Racism is so American that when you protest racism, people think you are protesting America.

The second one. I’ve had racists swear up and down to me, over and over that black people have such a high incarceration rate isn’t racism, but because they’re actually more criminal.

It’s surreal.

There’s only one type of person this “sickens,” and it’s obviously white power racists like Laura Ingraham.

I guess she feels she has the option of going “even more disgusting” to fill the shit-filled cesspool Limbaugh has left behind…
