I’m reminded of a guy who became a Magistrate in an area of the West Country in England back in the 18th or 19th century. He was shocked by how stupid all the defendants were when they appeared in his court. After a bit of investigation, he discovered the men all drank the scrumpy (strong, homemade Cyder) produced by one person. They liked his product because it was so sweet. It was so sweet because he sweetened it by pouring lead shot into barrels while brewing. 
Once again, greed leading to poisoning. Life under Capitalism, eh
