Leaving kids in front of screens unsupervised for hours may have unpleasant consequences, parents learn

I said this on twitter; the reason it matters that its the tech industry and silicon valley specifically is because there is no other place/sector that claims to be on the bleeding edge of progressiveness. So its very “interesting” that the bastion of leading edge technology is also racist and sexist. Thats worth noting I think.

And trying to do something about, too! Excellent point!

Sure, but don’t confuse the people who run the tech industry - people like Carly Fiorina and Peter Thiel and the venture capitalist banksters - with the high tech working class. And don’t confuse Brogrammer culture with geek culture.

I have met very few women and POC who have had the necessary background to do my job. This is not the fault of the technicians; it’s the fault of a culture and society that offers fewer educational and economic opportunities to non-white and non-christian families. You can’t fix it by hiring unqualified people, you need generations of affirmative action in the schools and factories.

Yes. Yes we do.
And to start that we need to address the visible outcomes of these issues and work backwards from there. Pretty sure that @anon61221983 and I agree with that.
