Are you sure you aren’t thinking of small pox? Polio is still part of the routine childhood vaccines in the US. My six year old has had hers
I used to play paintball with a guy who had leg braces and crutches. He was one of the last cases of Polio in the US.
Oh you might be right. I was speaking very off the cuff there and didn’t look anything up. Maybe I do have the shot!
I would not have remembered except the immunizations for my kid have been fairly recent and I was just figuring out if her proof for school was still good a few days ago. She gets all the vaccines.
I recently had a pneumonia one. The CDC recently expanded eligibility for that one to include younger people with lung vulnerability like asthma or a history of lung reactivity to illness. I was very pleased
That’s odd. I’ve been practicing since '86, and polio (initially OPV, then transitioning to IPV) has always been recommended.
He denied any domestic or foreign travel, exposure to armadillos…
Well, he would, wouldn’t he? Flashing armadillos is illegal in most states.
I was mistaken, that’s all.
Should be right up the alley for the new We The People Health Clinics eager to treat those who disagree with Big Medicine. Ivermectin treats leprosy, right? (actually, turns out it is one of the treatments)
'kay, but how are untreated infected people and/or armadillos cohabitating with Central Florida? Who’s styling their armadillo as a chihuahua or letting their gal retrieve one right before playtime? The nervine infection stops them feeling hatred for mankind and its tires and thus siestas are tainted anew? We’ll see if leonine papules appear on DeSantis as he veers into Dick Nixon Credit Country and gets plagued by locusts during a medium-length harangue against people with numeric keypads on their phones. (I mean, where would they put 3 shoulder buttons on each side, right?)
Hey the guy from the CDC is from Kansas City University…which is newish? But been somewhere for 100 years training Osteopaths.
eta: Okay, less likely to be armadillos than people from the mid-grey in the map at the foot of docosc’s CDC briefer (with no GP), who one I guess gets caught in over-vehement AC with, and shares substances (and armadillo sashimi…) or laundry, or concerts where people have died from rushing over the stagefloor, or Carolina Reaper foods around, or those smallpox parties where sneezes into each others’ faces are refereed or maybe blood sport is one’s other Baptism? [Receives text summons to someplace in Season 3 or 4 of Paradise PD…in Haiti.] Other J. Epstein? Retirement Driven Greek Rush Week? Massive mushroom farming / haunted house / assisted living shower events? Retirees relay ultramarathon in countries where yeah you could’a picked up something (can’t blame it all on Carnival?) Bunker Fuel burning truck that also has a bloodbag crew. CIA (the cooking school) with dorm funding by {amazeballs untrustworthy evaporation split (heat pump) vendor.}
Imagineers who subscribed to that video science journal thing and are doing a real reasonable job with the gene drive, considering that DI water system…
They’ve managed to save Joshua Tree National Park in citizen science cultivation, but the participants are overexposed…
RasPi driven triple-pane lanai doors with planter rotation have a bug armadillos would be exploiting if it weren’t just a bug and one mad girl whose drone can lift 10 kg. armadillos.
MPL Neuroscience Miami hold community colloqs but Wayz sends half the comers to…nope, they covered that too.
The meyer lemons grow glia now, crazy beetle vector, you wouldn’t believe it.
How did you fuck up spelling “God”?
Summer anthem?
Lighten up. Its a Jewish thing
Not spelling God fully and suggesting plagues for Florida is a Jewish thing?
no, dropping vowels in naming that deity is.
Fair enough. It looked far more like someone being an asshole about Florida, but TIL
Mostly G-D. They don’t even write God in their Bible. They use a nickname.
Not to late to add the Black Plague.
Or worse, they act like the more susceptible-to-manipulation [1] branch of my in-laws, and quote the misleading stats that “polio vaccines kill more people than polio”. Which is technically true, but only because (IIRC)
a) polio vaccine deaths are rare - worldwide, we see a few hundred per year in the face of massive vaccination programs
b) polio case numbers are down to less than a 1/10th of a percent of what they were a few decades ago
[1] They are not susceptible to manipulation because they’re dumb. They’re quite smart. One has a PhD in chemistry. They’re lonely and highly skilled in things that have little current economic demand, so they don’t see much place for themselves in the world. There are probably other reasons too, but lack of smarts isn’t one of them. In any case, a wacko church and the anti-vaxx people got their warm loving claws into them.
