Back when I worked in a US Army library, some of the people remembered when there was a prescribed uniform for (civilian) librarians.

Libraries were once an important part of human civilization.

Now we have to argue with idiots over building libraries because they attract homeless people and make traffic in neighborhoods worse. (seriously, it was only a week ago that I had to take the opposite side in a discussion with my neighbor.)
