Perhaps they’re dealing drugs. There was a restaurant near us that had inexpensive good food, but it was always empty. The spouse and I used to privately joke that the only way they could stay in business was if they were dealing.
A year later, the place was raided and the owner and staff were arrested on drug charges. I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I kind-of was. Mostly I was sad because I really liked the place and the people who worked there. And I didn’t give a rat’s ass about their side hustle.
