Some town somewhere could be bankrupted into oblivion by righteous lawsuits — but L.A. County, which has the GDP of a medium-sized country, is not that town

If lawsuits were the solution to police corruption and brutality, we would have no police corruption or brutality in the US. There is no shortage of lawsuits against these institutions, but I have yet to see a municipality bankrupted by it, even a small one.
